Michelangelo Antonioni’s gaze and Fine Arts –

Ferrara, Palazzo dei Diamanti, 10 marzo – 9 june 2013

Bruxelles, BOZAR, Palais de Beaux Arts, 22 june – 8 september 2013

The exhibition shows the creative path of the great cinema director of Ferrara putting side by side his work and the works of others artists, creating a suggestive dialogue between cinema, photograpy, sculpture and painting. The exhibition will focus on the extraordinary fund of objects and documents related to the life and the work of the director, now belonging to the city of Ferrara. More than 47.000 pieces: films and documentaries, photographies, original scripts, the book and record library of Antonioni, letters he exchanged with major personalities of the last century cultural landscape (from Barthes to Luchino Visconti, from Tarkovsky to Morandi), prizes, personal objects and many other materials.

Somaini’s little bronze sculpture, Forza del nascere, 1956, sketch of the great sculpture in iron conglomerate, exposed together with Canto aperto in the Venice Biennale of 1956, will be exhibited in the hall dedicated to the trilogy The adventure, The night and The Eclypse: in the latter movie, indeed, the sculpture appears in a long initial sequence.
