The Archive is a private organisation, directed by professor Luisa Somaini, art historian and daughter of the artist. Created, according to his will, after his death in 2005, it preserves all the existing documentation on the artist’s activities and protects and promotes his work. The documentation regarding Somaini’s works gathered by the Archive aims to publish a general catalogue of the sculptor. In order to record a work of art, the Archive must receive the following material:

•  2-3 colour photograph of the work, from different points of view (digital images or prints);

•  a photograph of the artist’s signature, date, gallery labels or any other inscription visible on the work;

•  the following form (pdf version below) specifying the work’s title, dimensions, eventual presence of signature and/or date, indication of exhibitions it has been in, bibliography, provenance, etc.

The Archive will proceed filing those works that, according to artistic and scientific criteria, are considered relevant for publication in the general catalogue. The Archive may decide to examine the work to evaluate its authenticity. Filing of works of art are free of charge.

Certifications of authenticity are exclusively granted by the Archive, upon request of collectors or gallerists. According to the kind of work to be examined, the amounts to be paid are:
€ 250,00 (+ ritenuta d’imposta) for paintings and drawings
€ 300,00 (+ritenuta d’imposta) for sculptures

Economic evaluations are not assessed. The Archive benefits from the collaboration of several consultants, among which figure professor Enrico Crispolti (1933-2018) and lawyer Filippo Corbetta.
