FROM TECHNIQUES TO STYLE. IRON AND BRONZE SCULPTURES FROM THE SECOND HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY

On Tuesday the 3rd of December 2019 (from 10.00 to 18.00) and on Wednesday the 4th of December 2019 (from 9.00 to 17.00), at the
Pistoia Musei Foundation (Palazzo Buontalenti, via de ‘Rossi 7, Pistoia), will take place the conference From techniques to style. Iron and bronze sculptures from the second half of the 20th century. The conference is organized by the Marino Marini Foundation, based on a scientific project by Barbara Cinelli (Roma Tre University), in collaboration with Stefania Agnoletti (Opificio delle Pietre Dure) and Luciano Pensabene Buemi (Peggy Guggenheim Collection).

Among the speakers, there will be also Luisa Somaini, Veronica Collina and Emanuele Greco, who will talk about the recent discovery in the collection of the Metropolitan City of Florence of a sculpture by Francesco Somaini: Sphinx of Manhattan, 1974, bronze in a nickel bath. The work, purchase-prize of the Carmine Foundation at the Florence Fiorino Prize of 1975, is part of the series of the “Carnification of an architecture”.
